It is so easy to forget what truly matters in our lives. This past week my grandparents visited us in FL, from NH. The trip was wonderful and it was wonderful having most of our family together again; whole. This trip marked the second meeting for my Grandparents and my son. After a week full of joyous memories the time came for our sad goodbyes after a nice family lunch. Outside of the restaurant I took a picture of my son and my grandparents.
This picture is significant to me in many ways. Of course it is of my son, and his Great Grandparents, but it is also so much more. The shirt my grandmother is wearing belonged to my Great Grandma Barbara, (My Grandfather's mother). Looking back at old family pictures my Great Grandmother always wore that shirt. It is often a family joke to mention the shirt when we think of her. My Great Grandmother Barbara died before getting the chance to meet my son. Looking at this picture of the three of them together shows just how strong a family bond can be. Most importantly it shows what I live for each and everyday. Family is something that exists in and around our lives each and everyday. Most people do not take notice of when their family comes or goes. They may not kiss their loved ones goodbye each time the part ways, however they have to notice how much it hurts once they are truly gone. Revel in the love of your family. love every second that you spend visiting your grandparents, fighting with your brother and holding hands with the ones you love. You do not realize how lucky you are to have them until they are thousands of miles away.
