I have been crocheting for 4 years now, however I did not get serious about my now passion until the birth of my son a month ago. The idea of a few key stitches added together in such a way can literally make thousands of patterns and designs. It is mind boggling. Recently I made my first hexagon, aided by the brilliant blog found here http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2008/11/hexagon-crochet.html. I love hexagons! I am obsessed with the variety of color combinations and things I can make out of these wonderful shapes. It is amazing. If you love crochet and are looking for a new way to spend your time, I suggest checking out her blog on how to make them. I am sure you will love them just as much as I do.
Happy Creating!

Urban Jungle Crocheted Slouchy Beanie
I have looked for years for a slouchy beanie pattern that even slightly resembles the one you see in stores and across the internet. Finally!! Here is one designed by Vickie Howell http://www.caron.com/vickiehowell/patterns/urban_jungle/urban_jungle.html Her pattern is so easy to follow and gives you the perfect result. Not only is this hat fashionable. It is so comfy and warm. In fact my fiance wore it after I had finished it and wouldn't take it off! This hat can be worn by a male or female, it is truly great! I suggest you try it out. If you need pictures to assist you I suggest you read, http://allaboutami.tumblr.com/post/12884250592/urbanjunglebeanie where she gives you step by step instructions with pictures. Have fun and happy creating!

The Art of Creation
I love crocheting. So much in fact that I spend the majority of my free time doing it, as little as that free time may be. I have my favorite designers, however I can never seem to sell anything. Looking around on Etsy, blogger and other sites, I had a revelation. Creating! That is where the money is made. Do not get me wrong, I do not do this all for the money. However when you have a 1 year old and he goes through diapers as fast as Noah does.... trust me you will need some extra funds. So I have been making one hat in particular for a very long time. In fact I taught myself how to make it and added the embellishments all by myself at 17. Why not make this my first pattern to sell? I know it like the back of my hand, or maybe a more fitting pun would be the flip side of my hook. :) So prepare yourself people of the crochet world. The first pattern for sale from Dani's CrochetedCreations will be the Earflap Beanie! Coming soon to an Etsy store near you. ;)

The Importance of Healthy Food
After the birth of my son my entire life changed. I slept less, I ate differently, I exercised.... Oh wait. I didn't exercise. Around month 6 of my son's birth I realized that I still had not lost all of the weight I had gained during my pregnancy. I was lucky enough to only gain 33lbs, and Breastfeeding helped me to lose 15lbs immediately after the birth, however I was not happy with my body. It was then that I purchased Insanity and truly began trying to get fit. After my first round of Insanity I saw some results. My body was toner in areas, I felt more energized and I was not in pain as I would have normally been. However I still struggled with some excess weight.
As life sometimes does, I was thrown some curve balls and my fitness path was set on hold. During this time I began eating differently. I put aside the soda and began to drink lemon water or green tea. I ate healthier choices instead of fast food or pre-made convenient meals. I will not lie and say I cut out all of the bad choices, because I do indulge myself to goodies at least once a week. However everything is in proportion. Since my diet change I have at least dropped 1lb a week. I have lost an additional 15lbs and the scale just keeps going down. If you are ready for a change in your body, the easiest way is to start with your diet. Here is a great and healthy recipe for you to start off with.

1 1/4 cup plain,nonfat yogurt
1/2 cup grapes (cut in half)
1/2 cup apple (chopped)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or almonds
2 cups cooked, chopped chicken
